Effective date: 9 November 2025
1. Purpose
This policy explains how Tentunit uses (or does not use) artificial intelligence (AI), machine‑learning algorithms and automated decision‑making tools when managing verification, trust and fraud screening. It is designed to uphold transparency, fairness and compliance with data protection laws.
2. Definitions
- Artificial Intelligence (AI): systems that use statistical or computational techniques to learn from large datasets and make predictions or decisions without explicit programming.
- Automated decision‑making: decisions made solely by automated means (without human involvement) that produce legal or similarly significant effects on individuals.
- Profiling: automated processing of personal data to evaluate certain personal aspects such as behaviour or preferences.
3. Scope
This policy applies to all Tentunit services, including user registration, student verification, listing management, trust and safety procedures, and fraud screening.
4. Current Use of Automation
- No AI or machine‑learning: Tentunit does not use AI or machine‑learning models to make decisions about user eligibility, verification, listings or transactions. We believe training decision‑making systems with personal data presents significant privacy and fairness concerns.
- Rule‑based checks: We use limited automated checks to support our teams (for example, to detect spam listings or confirm whether a submitted document matches the expected file type). These checks use simple matching rules and do not make final decisions about a person’s eligibility.
- Human‑centred decisions: All verification, trust and fraud‑screening outcomes are determined by human reviewers who consider the context and any available information. Automated tools may flag issues or assist with document retrieval, but they do not have authority to approve or deny accounts, listings or payments.
5. Impact on Users
Because we do not use AI for decision‑making:
- Fairness and non‑discrimination: Decisions are made by qualified staff who consider all relevant factors and aim to avoid biases inherent in algorithmic systems.
- Transparency: You can request clarification on any verification or trust‑related decision and, where appropriate, appeal or provide additional context.
- Data minimisation: We do not train AI models on your personal data; any automated checks we run are narrowly scoped and process only the minimum data needed.
6. Changes to This Approach
If Tentunit ever decides to implement AI or fully automated decision‑making, we will:
- Conduct a thorough impact assessment to address fairness, discrimination and privacy concerns.
- Provide clear notice explaining the logic involved, the significance of the decision, and your right to request human intervention.
- Update this policy and our Privacy Policy to reflect the new practices and give you an opportunity to opt‑out or object.
7. User Rights and Contact
Should you have any questions about a decision involving verification, trust, or fraud screening whether automated or not you can contact us at [email protected]. We will explain the decision process and, if requested, arrange for a human review.
